Five Necessary Soft Skills for a Work-from-Home Career
Yesterday I posted about some mindsets you’ll want to lose if you want to work from home.
Once you’ve searched out and eliminated those mindsets, there are also certain factors of success — skills that are necessary if you want to succeed in a work-from-home endeavor.
Self-discipline
Self-discipline encompasses important soft skills such as taking initiative, staying motivated, and having tenacity.
These skills are huge — whether you are going to be working from home part-time or hoping to be the next work-from-home entrepreneur who earns millions.
What are the signs of having good self-discipline?
Let’s first consider what it is not.
- While you were growing up, did your mom have to wake you up ten times before you got out of bed?
- Did you have to run after the school bus to make it to class at the very last minute?
What about in college?
- Did you tend to lag in turning in assignments?
- At work, do you regularly show up late for work and hope the boss doesn’t notice?
If so, these are signs that motivation is not a natural skill.
